This is a story about my unexpected anxiety over taking the British Driving test. It will be written over several posts and I invite you to read them every day to see how yoga therapy helped me in the end.
This was the situation I found myself in: I was retiring from a 30-year career as a teacher working for the American government in England and decided to stay in the country after retirement. One of the requirements to stay was to get a British driving license. I had been driving since I was 16, so I thought it would take a bit of re-learning, but doable. I was in for the surprise of my life! I thought I had one year to take my lessons and tests, but that was not the case. Then I found out that my car insurance would no longer be valid for me to drive since I wasn’t working for the government anymore. I was horrified! That meant I had to walk everywhere until I passed my test. I couldn’t get a driving test appointment until after I passed my written test and the first driving test appointment I could get was three months away. My anxieties were quickly building!
