Restorative yoga poses are often used in yoga therapy to help replenish and renew the body. One pose from Judith Hanson Lasater’s book, “Restore and Renew” is called basic relaxation pose.
“Basic Relaxation Pose helps to lower blood pressure and heart rate. It releases muscular tension reduces fatigue, improves sleep, enhances the immune response, and helps to manage chronic pain.” (Relax and Renew, p. 25-27 Judith Hanson Lasater). This pose is created by laying on your back with a rolled up banket/towel under the knees, a half-rolled up blanket/towel under the neck and a cloth to cover the eyes. Arms are out to the side and legs straight. The whole body is relaxed.
